Bridgewater Arts Centre, Case Study

Bridgwater Arts Centre For Website

Project Overview

In autumn 2025, our team completed a major project at Bridgwater Arts Centre, a Grade 1 listed
building. The work allowed us to apply our expertise across multiple disciplines – fire, security,
and access systems – while maintaining the building’s historic character. Systems were
upgraded and installed throughout the venue to ensure safety, compliance, and accessibility for
staff and visitors.

Fire Safety Systems

A Category L1 fire alarm system was installed, fully monitored and tailored to the venue. Wall
and ceiling VAD alarms were positioned throughout all public areas, including the theatre, WCs,
and exhibition spaces, providing clear alerts in the event of an emergency. We worked with
Honeywell, using their market-leading EN54-23 VADs to ensure optimal visibility and
compliance.

All fire safety work was completed to the high standards we adhere to as BAFE SP203-1
approved contractors
, ensuring the system meets current regulatory standards and is
professionally installed. Choosing the right alarms is critical, and our approach ensures reliability
and compliance throughout the building.

Security Systems

A fully monitored security alarm system was installed, with app-based access enabling staff to
monitor and manage the building remotely. The system provides real-time alerts and reflects
current security technology, while integrating discreetly within the historic setting.
Given the Grade I listed status of the building, all work was carefully planned to meet current
compliance requirements without affecting its character.

Access Control and Automatic Doors

A video intercom system was installed and linked to automatic doors and an electric strike latch,
enabling safe and controlled access for staff and visitors.

All automatic door work was carried out to ADIA (Automatic Door Installation Association)
standards, in partnership with Record UK Ltd and Comelit-PAC, ensuring professional
installation and compliance.

Client Experience

The project combined careful planning, technical expertise, and attention to detail. The use of
modern, appropriate technology across the installation allowed the work to be carried out
sensitively within a historic setting. Bridgwater Arts Centre now benefits from a fully integrated,
safe, and accessible environment for staff and visitors.

“Adam and the team have been a pleasure to work with. Professional,
efficient, and delivered the project to a high standard, despite the complexities of the renovation
and building.” Scott Mason – Director of Amenities at Bridgwater Town Council
